How we handle your personal information when you contact us, ask for a quote or have electrical work done.

Last updated: 22 October 2026

Who we are

This website is run by David D Electrical LTD, an electrical contractor based in Preston, Lancashire. We are the controller of the personal information described in this policy, which means we decide how and why it is used.

We work for homeowners, landlords, tenants and businesses. This policy applies to anyone who visits this website, contacts us or uses our services.

What information we collect

What we hold depends on how you deal with us.

When you contact us or ask for a quote

  • your name, email address and telephone number, if you give one;
  • your town or postcode, and the address of the property where work is needed;
  • the service you are asking about and anything you tell us in your message, including any photos or documents you choose to send;
  • our replies and any later correspondence, whether by email, phone or message.

When we carry out work for you

  • details needed to arrange and complete the job, such as access arrangements and site contact details;
  • quotes, job records, invoices and payment history;
  • where we carry out testing, inspection or installation work, the test results, reports and certificates we prepare, which name the property and the person who ordered the work.

When you visit this website

  • technical information that your browser sends automatically, such as your IP address, browser type, device type, the pages requested and the date and time. Our hosting provider processes this to deliver the site and keep it secure.

We do not collect payment card details through this website. We do not ask for special category information (such as health information), and you do not need to give us any to make an enquiry. Please do not include it in your message.

We collect most information directly from you. If a letting agent, landlord, main contractor or other business asks us to carry out work for you, they may give us your contact details and the property address.

How we use your information and our lawful bases

Under UK data protection law we need a lawful basis for each use of personal information. These are ours.

What we doLawful basis
Respond to your enquiry, prepare a quote you have asked for, arrange visits and carry out work for you as an individual Taking steps at your request before a contract, and performing a contract with you
Deal with enquiries and correspondence from businesses, landlords, agents and other contacts, and run our business and look after our customers Legitimate interests: running our business and responding to the people who contact us
Keep accounting and tax records, and meet other legal and regulatory duties Legal obligation
Keep this website and our systems secure, prevent spam and abuse, and establish, exercise or defend legal claims Legitimate interests: protecting our business, our systems and the people who use them

Where we rely on legitimate interests, we have weighed them against your rights and expectations. You can ask us about this using the details below.

We do not currently send marketing emails or text messages, and we do not use this website to track you for advertising. If that changes, we will only do so where the law allows, and we will ask for your consent where it is required.

Giving us your name, a way to contact you and the work location is necessary for us to answer an enquiry or quote. Without them we cannot help you.

Who we share information with

We do not sell personal information. We share it only where it is needed, and only as much as is needed, with:

  • Hosting and website providers, who host this website and handle the technical data described above. This site is hosted on Cloudflare. WebAmber, which built the website, supports it on our behalf and acts on our instructions, not as a controller of our customers’ information.
  • Email, telephone and messaging providers, and any provider that handles enquiry form submissions, so that we can receive and answer your messages.
  • Accountants, bookkeepers and accounting software providers, for invoicing, bookkeeping and tax.
  • Subcontractors, suppliers and other people working on your job, where they need your details or the property address to do the work.
  • Insurers, professional advisers and certification or inspection bodies, where this is needed for insurance, advice, legal claims or to evidence our work.
  • Courts, regulators, HMRC, the police and other public authorities, where we are legally required to or the law allows us to.

If you ask us to send a certificate or report to your landlord, agent, mortgage lender, building control body or another third party, we will share it with them for that purpose.

This website contains a link to our Facebook page. Following it takes you to Facebook, which has its own privacy policy. Nothing is sent to Facebook just because you load a page on our site.

International transfers

Some of our service providers, including those that provide hosting, email and online services, operate internationally and may process information outside the UK, for example in the United States or the European Economic Area. We cannot say that all information stays in the UK.

Where information is transferred outside the UK, it must be protected by a safeguard recognised under UK data protection law, such as a UK adequacy arrangement or approved standard contractual clauses. You can contact us for more information about the safeguards that apply.

How long we keep information

We keep personal information only for as long as we need it for the reason we collected it. We do not use one fixed period for everything. In practice:

  • Enquiries and quotes that do not lead to work: for as long as it takes to deal with the enquiry and for a reasonable period afterwards in case you come back to us with questions.
  • Customer and job records: while we provide the service, and afterwards for as long as we need them to meet our record-keeping duties, deal with any guarantee or aftercare, answer queries about work we have done and handle possible claims.
  • Test results, reports and certificates: for as long as they are useful to evidence the work and protect us and the customer in the event of a later query or claim.
  • Invoices and accounting records: for the periods required by tax and company law, which for many records is at least six years.
  • Website and security logs: for the short periods needed for security and to run the site, as set by our hosting providers.

When we no longer need information, we delete it, or anonymise it so it can no longer identify you. Some information may remain for a while in backups or with our providers before it is overwritten.

How we protect information

We use technical and organisational measures that are appropriate for a small business. The website is served over an encrypted (HTTPS) connection, we limit access to personal information to people who need it, and we choose service providers with care. No method of transmission or storage over the internet is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security. If you would rather not send details through the website, you can phone us instead.

Cookies and similar technologies

This website does not set cookies and does not use analytics, advertising or tracking tools. It uses no embedded maps, videos or social media widgets, and its fonts are served from our own website rather than a third-party font service. For that reason we do not show a cookie banner.

Like all websites, our hosting provider receives the technical information your browser sends in order to load a page, as described above. Menu and page behaviour on this site runs in your browser and does not store personal information about you.

If we later add anything that stores or reads information on your device and is not strictly necessary, we will ask for your consent first and update this policy.

Your data protection rights

Depending on the circumstances and the lawful basis, you have the right to:

  • be told whether we hold your personal information, and to get a copy of it (access);
  • have inaccurate or incomplete information corrected;
  • ask us to delete your information;
  • ask us to restrict how we use it;
  • object to our use of it where we rely on legitimate interests;
  • receive information you gave us in a portable format, where we use it under a contract with you and by automated means;
  • withdraw your consent at any time, where we are relying on consent.

These rights are not absolute. For example, we may need to keep certain records to comply with the law or to deal with legal claims. If we cannot do what you ask, we will explain why.

To use any of these rights, email enquiries@daviddelectrical.co.uk or call 07597 652527. We may need to check your identity before we act on a request. We usually respond within one month. We can extend that by up to two further months for complex or numerous requests, and we will tell you if we do. There is normally no charge.

Contact and complaints

If you have a question about this policy or how we handle your information, or you are unhappy about it, please contact David D Electrical LTD, for the attention of Dawid Drzewiecki:

We will acknowledge a complaint within 30 days and look into it without undue delay. We would welcome the chance to put things right first, but you do not have to contact us before complaining to the regulator. You have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) at any time: ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time, for example if we change how the website works or the services we use. The date at the top shows when it was last updated. If a change significantly affects how we use your information, we will take reasonable steps to tell you.
